This FAQ is divided into three parts, in this order : questions from regular viewers, questions from uploaders, and questions from site/content owners.
Frequently Asked Questions by VIEWERS

- What do I need to watch the videos?

You only need a proper install of a recent Adobe Flash Player. You can download it from : http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

- How much do you charge to view the videos?

There is no charge. However keep in mind that purchasing a membership to an adult site will help support the industry and the production of adult materials. Thinking 'paying for porn is stupid' is irresponsible (and stupid).

- How can I retrieve my account login or password?

You can retrieve your password here by giving your account email. This must be a valid email address or you won't be able to retrieve your account !

- How can I prevent my children from accessing xvideos.com?

As written on our main page, xvideos.com is labelled with ICRA. Parents, read more here.

- How can I easily find again videos that I liked?

You can use the search to find videos again but the best way is to create an account and save each video that you like to your own favorite list. This list is stored on our servers so you never lose it, as long as you have your login infos. Here is a direct link to your favorite videos, for your convenience.

- How can I save a video to my favorites?

Visit any video page. You will find a button below the video that says : Add to your favorites.

- My favorites are gone!?

We receive such emails regularly, and everytime it was an user with two or more accounts logging in to the wrong account.

- Where are the gay and shemale videos?

These videos are not listed in our NEW / BEST / HITS indexes neither in the results from the SEARCH. If you wish to find these videos you have to browse our TAGS or CATEGORIES (bottom of index page).

- Why am I redirected to the Mobile page?

We automatically redirect users to our mobile pages based on a detection script located on our index page only. If you are being redirected even though you are not using a mobile device please email us.

- Can I access the regular pages from a mobile?

Only our first page will redirect you so technically if you browse any other page, such as the Best Videos, you will not be redirected.

- Can you email me videos or updates?

Even if you create an account with us, we do not send out any email, never. If you wish to follow xvideos' updates closely you can subscribe to our feed.

- I saw a video that doesn't work!

Unfortunately, considering the quantity of videos, there will probably always be certain videos that TEMPORARILY do not work. Typically the problem with be a 'This video will be available soon' message, or the video loading only a small portion of its length. Once again, these problems are only temporary. If you were able to access a certain video page, that means it is still in the database and will be fixed eventually.

- How to report / flag a video?

Find your way to the bottom of any video page and click the Contact us link. Don't forget to include the video address or number.

- How can I download your videos?

You can use a tool such as the Ant Toolbar. It works fine, is free, and virus-free! It will work with most other sites too.

- The download speed is too slow! There is too much buffering!

This issue and the one above are related. We are experiencing some difficulties with our web hosting but we do plan to have everything resolved.

- How can I remove XVIDEOS from my computer?

Visiting this site does not install anything to your computer. Therefore there is nothing to remove, other than your browsing history and your cached / temporary internet files, which you can do in your browser's options.

Frequently Asked Questions by UPLOADERS

- How to upload videos?

First create an account, then go to the video upload page. You can upload a file from your hard drive or from a web address.

- My uploads fail at 99%, what can I do?

If your upload fails near the end (genereally at 99%), go to the 'my videos' page, there at the top you should see a link to resubmit this video to our system without having to upload it again.

- How can I edit my videos?

You can find all your uploaded videos here. Each video has an Edit this video button.

- Do you pay for video uploads? Is there an affiliate program?

We do not pay for uploads, nor do we run an affiliate program. However, allowing you to embed any video to your site is extremely costly (for us). It would probably be more profitable for you to use them rather than sending traffic directly to other sites.

- How to delete one or more of my uploaded videos?

Our system doesn't let you delete your uploaded videos. If you want a video deleted you have to email us. Think twice before you upload a video of your girlfriend!

- What video format is best to use for uploading?

Try to avoid exotic codecs or very recent ones. Go with standards like WMV. A high bitrate is always better. Contrary to common beliefs flv format is absolutely not ideal for us and is not recommended.

- I don't see my videos published on XVIDEOS, why?

Newly uploaded videos appear exactly 3 days after their encoding is completed, meaning the exact time it will appear on our pages is nearly unpredictable for you. Another thing to consider is that our main index (NEW) doesn't display videos under 5 minutes. However videos any length are listed normally everywhere else.

- The video I uploaded gave an 'error while encoding', what to do?

Errors are common while encoding video files. Whenever that happens we try to encode it again several times before giving up. If you see we really can't manage to encode your file, we would recommend you upload it again after you convert it to a more conventional format.

Frequently Asked Questions by SITE OWNERS

- How can I import the xvideos database to my tube script?

You can download our entire database. Follow this link please.

- Why would I want to upload my content to you?

Tube sites attract an enormous amount of users. If your stuff is good, it will sell. And if it doesn't, at least you will become more popular. If you are not on the tubes, surfers will forget about you. Our channel system is made to give you credits for your uploads (even if other people upload your content) and direct traffic to your sites. This system is self-service (for you) contrary to the old ways that involved more work and hassle.

- What is the CHANNEL system?

What we call a channel is simply a set of text ads that can be linked to any video. The uploader of the video can edit it right after uploading. These ads appear on our pages below the top menu and inside the videos as well. The interesting part is that anyone can manage to give proper credits to their uploads.

- Who can have their channels / links added to XVIDEOS?

This service is reserved to paysite owners / content producers exclusively. Email us to have your links added. It is best to contact us after you have uploaded a few videos. There are already 600 channels added to XVIDEOS.

- Why is VIDZ.COM text link showing on my video page?

'Vidz' is one of our sponsors, their ads are selected by default when the uploader did not pick another channel.

- How can I have my content removed from XVIDEOS?

This is our Content Removal page. It may occasionally take longer than you would expect for us to remove your content but we do take care of all notices, and we do not require a very formal message from you.

- How to keep track of the deleted videos?

We delete a lot of videos! We understand it's a problem for you if you are embedding us. You can keep track of these by using this special RSS feed of deleted videos. We plan to change this page to make it more useful by going back to the very first deletion.

- How can I advertise on XVIDEOS?

Here is our advertising page. We rarely add new advertisers. We want to talk to the final client rather than brokers and agencies. We prefer long term. Most requests are simply left unanswered at this time, until we feel we need more advertisers.

- I want to exchange links / trade traffic with XVIDEOS.

Sorry but we do not do this at the moment. But feel free to link to our pages :)
